Hand Painted Kitchen In Mayfield, Kent.

We were commissioned to re-finish this stunning kitchen at a beautiful countryside property near mayfield just outside Royal Tunbridge Wells.

After the initial colour consultation our client decided to go for Farrow and Ball “Light Blue” In an eggshell finish.

Before any work was started we sheeted up all flooring using 1200 grade lining paper to protect the floor and minimise dust.

We started by degreasing and washing down all parts of the kitchen, removing doors, drawer fronts and stripping down all hinges and handles.

Once the kitchen was stripped down and thoroughly cleaned it was time to start the preparation stage. Starting with the carcussing then onto the doors and drawers, we sanded back the previous finish using power sanders, dust extractors and fine sanding pads for the finer details.

Once all sanding was complete we had the big dust down using hoovers, dusting brushes and tack cloths to make sure the surfaces were immaculate and ready for paint.

It was now time for the fun part, first coats of Zinsser BIN primer were applied, left to dry and sanded back to create a smooth finish, this was then repeated. Next up all woodwork was undercoated using Farrow and Ball Light tones primer again fine sanding and dusting down to create a faultless finish.

Finally it was time for the final finishing coats of Eggshell these were applied using brush and roller using a technique called laying off or tipping where the paint is initially rollered on using a fine flock roller then laid off using a specialist laying off brush.

After a good 24 hours drying time the kitchen was ready to hand back to the clients who were over the moon with the finished product and have subsequently got us back to carry out some more work on their property.
